After retiring from rugby five years ago, Nathan turned his focus to Triathlon. Already capable in all three disciplines, his physical transformation paid huge dividends in his speed around the course.
“Racing is all about efficiency. Too much weight can slow you down, particularly on the bike and while running.” said Morgan,
“My times have really improved as I’ve trained to become leaner. I’ve also been working with my sponsors, Kube Medical, to address my biomechanical issues.”
After a steady swim, Morgan came out of the water 13th in his category. In treacherous cycling conditions, he reeled in several competitors to finish 7th in a time of 3 hours, 1 minute and 25 seconds. His result is enough to secure a spot in next year’s event, alongside the World Championship Standard Distance Triathlon place he secured earlier this season.
“It’s been a pleasure to support Nathan,” said Kube Medical Director, Patrick Campbell.
“With so much media focus on professional sport, it’s easy to underestimate the effort that amateur sportspeople put in to achieve representative honours. To play a small role in Nathan’s success has been incredibly gratifying. We look forward to working with him into next year’s international season.”
Morgan will spend the off-season honing his technique and upgrading his equipment to come back fitter and faster in 2023.
