Is Chiropractic a Science-Based Medicine?

As per the Advertising Standards Authority Guidelines, Chiropractic has been proven safe and effective to treat a wide range of conditions.
Chiropractors are statutorily regulated, primary healthcare professionals who work in the private healthcare sector. A Chiropractic degree involves full-time extensive training in anatomy, physiology, and biomechanics, with a particular emphasis on the musculoskeletal system and the nervous system.

Can Chiropractic Help Me?

Chiropractors can help with:
  • General, acute & chronic backache, back pain, sometimes known as Lumbago
  • Mechanical neck pain, Headache arising from the neck also known as a Cervicogenic headache. Chiropractic can also be used as a migraine prevention treatment.
  • Sciatica
  • Joint pains including hip and knee pain from osteoarthritis as an adjunct to core OA treatments and exercise.
  • Shoulder complaints (dysfunction, disorders and pain), Rotator cuff injuries, disease or disorders as well as other soft tissue disorders of the shoulder.
  • Elbow pain and tennis elbow (lateral epicondylitis) arising from associated musculoskeletal conditions of the back and neck, but not isolated occurrences.
  • Ankle sprain and plantar fasciitis
  • Cramp, inability to relax, joint pains, generalised aches and pains, Minor sports injuries and tensions, muscle spasms.
As part of their 4/5-year degree, Chiropractors are trained to work with pregnant women, children, and babies. This is supported by further post-qualification training.
So whatever your age or needs, we are likely have a technique to support you with postural balance, pain relief, muscle/joint rehabilitation and general wellbeing needs.

What is Diversified Chiropractic?

This technique involves a manual impulse to a joint which often results in an ‘audible release’ or a pop. It typically focuses around the spine but is also effective in other joints as well.

Diversified Chiropractic is the most common kind of Chiropractic training in the UK. It forms the basis of the majority of Chiropractors' training, but some practitioners go on to complete other kinds of training in different techniques.

Kube Medical has four practitioners of ‘Diversified’ techniques.

What is McTimoney Chiropractic?

This approach is typified by a whole-body assessment followed by swift, light force adjustments, which don’t often result in an audible release. The subtlety of the adjustment demands great sensitivity and mechanical skill, and, once mastered, the technique is extremely effective.

As a more gentle approach to Chiropractic, we would typically recommend this as a starting point for nervous patients, or those with conditions that make Diversified techniques less appropriate (Fibromyalgia, Hypermobility, Osteoporosis).

What is Activator Technique?

Activator Method Chiropractic Technique (AMCT), or Activator Technique, is the use of a hand held instrument to perform adjustments. The activator delivers a gentle force through the area being treated, and can be used as an alternative to manual adjustment.

What is Sacro Occipital Technique (SOT)?

SOT is Chiropractic version of Craniopathy. It is a whole body approach to balance the musculoskeletal system, using a variety of techniques such as blocks, manual adjusting, visceral and cranial releases.

What is Acupuncture?

This approach to muscular pain involves putting single use sterilised needles into specific areas within a muscle, known as trigger points. A trigger point refers to pain in other areas of the body.

Find out more on our Acupuncture page.

What is Fascial Release?

Fascial release is a manual therapy, with the aim of eliminating pain and restoring motion by applying gentle pressure to connective tissues. While used more extensively by our Massage Therapy team, this technique is also used as part of our Chiropractic appointments.

What is Masgutova Neurosensorimotor Integration (MNRI)?

MNRI is a technique to support the integration process of primary motor reflex patterns. While many of these develop in the womb, retained reflexes can impact people of all ages.
Basically, I was crippled on the right side, pain from my back all the way to my toes, extremely stiff and not very mobile (like I'm in my 90s). I decided to give Kube Medical a go...best decision ever! And so I met Lee and the second I got off that table I knew that this was a relationship I wanted to keep. I can still remember the feeling of relief and amazement after feeling so much better from just one treatment.
